The fiberglass section in the cockpit that extends out about a foot shows some cracks from bearing the weight of the mast when the topping lift is loose. A block a little farther forward would eliminate this problem.

Equipment Needed to Live on a Sailboat

I have a few months to work on our ‘wish list’ for our new boat, a 1993 Gemini 3400 Catamaran, that we bought in San Carlos, Mexico in June. Our crew list is expanding with a new baby expected in November, hence the need for a bigger boat, but that gives me some [read more...]

We’re Buying Another Boat

It seems like we’ve been on land forever, but in reality it has only been a few months.  It’s amazing how many ’strings’ get attached to you in such a short time back amongst the people on land.  When we lived on the boat (unemployed mind you) the days were full but they were filled [read more...]

Replacing the Emergency Manual Bilge Pump

Whale Gusher Manual Bilge

It has been said that there is no better bilge pump than a bucket and a scared sailor. I hope not to be that sailor.

Our CSY 33 came with a whale manual bilge pump. Everybody loves this bilge pump. It is built like a tank (much like everything [read more...]

Installing an Adjustable Salon Table

sample CSY salon table

When we bought our CSY 33, the boat came with a rather large dining table with two fold up wings and a liquor cabinet in the center. I felt it really cramped the spaciousness of the salon and we eventually removed the table altogether.

I was looking for a coffee table [read more...]
